Hi. I was looking at upgrading my car and went to a place in navan selling a a BMW 320d. Price seemed ok, they offered a bit more for my car on trade in than other places ive been to.

This is the dealer I was at today and the car I was enquiring about:

    http://www.academycarsales.com/BMW_320D_2008-f-1621.html

When I got home I was looking around online to see what else there was out there. Searching for info on 320D's, I came across a link to done deal selling the same car. The EXACT same car....... for less, around 5k less.

    Here: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3344068

Same pictures as on the dealer site. Phone numbers dont seem to match though. I figured it was the previous owner trying to sell privately before trading in, but it was only put on done deal today.

    Any advice?

Dealer could be trying to sell it as a private sale which probably means no warranty, at a reduced price. €20k is very high for a 08 320d M Sport. I paid €22500 for my similar one almost 2 years ago and it is higher spec.

On a side note I had to laugh at the DD advert line "Highest Spec 320 M Sport In Ireland."

I was thinking that too. I thought i could find the phone number from DD ad on the dealer site. theres 2 mobile numbers on the site.

I figure the DD is a straight up cash deal.

Showed the ads to a few mates who seemed very put off at the idea of buying a car advertised like that.

Believe me, I drove it, its nothing special in terms of other 3 series.

The only extras I can see on that is the Dakota leather interior.

Once you have a trade-in then the sticker price becomes less relevant, the cost to change price is all that matters.

It's got heated seats, privacy glass, and bluetooth, but it's still a far from highly specified car.

What was the cost to change from the dealer?

What are the full details of your car so we can put a value on it?

    And your cost to change?

Edit: my guess is they offered you €8k for your car, with a cost to change of €12k

It looks clean but I think its priced a bit high, there are a few 07 models selling in or around that price. Also you can NCT the car 3 months before it's due date, a fresh 2 year NCT will make it more attractive to a buyer. I would not bother with with adverts.ie. Most people on there just want to swap it for some junk they have or make silly cash offers. Through it up on donedeal.ie, much higher volume of buyers.

Yeah, I priced it high so I could drop the price as offers came in. I took it down after a while, I was getting PMs to swap for heaps of crap.
Ill get more for it on trade in, dont intend on selling privately anymore.

The only way to know if is a good deal is to find a similar car from another garage and see what money they want with the Mazda.

Surely you an get more than €2000 for your car privately? Because (assuming you'd get the BMW for €15000 without a trade-in) that's all the garage are offering you for it.

I probaly would, but Id rather not deal with the hassle of selling a car, I sold a car before using carzone and was pretty stressful. Didnt like it.

    +1 You're not getting a good deal.

Privately or as a trade in, you can do better.

Hang on a second here - you're spending €13000 because that extra €400 per annum in tax and a bit on fuel is 'killing' you? That makes no sense whatsoever, to me at least.

In the long run i feel it would benefit me. I might be commuting pretty far soon as well.
