I know I should have saved etc etc...however I did not. So 3 kids later and with a budget of about 1500 euro I cannot think what to get my good wife as a gift for our 10 years of marriage.

I was thinking of one of the following (note I did get her a very nice eternity ring when our second child was born):

    1. A diamond bracelet
    2. Another diamond ring
    3. Holiday in a European city, but where?
    4. Other type of gift but what?
    5. Money
    6. Another child!

Given the economic climate and being a bit strapped for cash, what would you recommend?

#6 is the most expensive option of them all, so if you're strapped for cash you'll probably want to avoid that. :)

In all seriousness, does it really matter how much it costs? Surely it's the thought that counts. 1500euro is a lot of money to spend.

Sometimes the simpler, cheaper thing will mean more to her than the thing with the highest price tag.
Yeah, I tend to agree. There's another tread on TGC with romantic ideas - that might give you ideas.

Somehow another diamond ring seems like more of the same. For me, money'd be an absolute no-no. Maybe a really nice watch, if she's into these things?

Personally, I'd go for the holiday - I don't know - Madrid, Istanbul, London? Depends a bit on the time of year & on what she likes. Could you structure a holiday round a concert that she'd really like to see, in said foreign city?

...in early September. I was very lucky that we went to Iceland for my 40th this year so if I had a choice for my anniversary gift I would pick something simple like a little diamond pendant as we've already been away. However, the holiday was lovely as I don't put a lot of store on 'remembering' birthdays (and interestingly even less so as years go on ;)) but I would definitely prefer something tangible for a 10th wedding anniversary. It just depends what sort of person your wife is and whether she would like to get away! Good luck with your choice.

Where did you go on your honeymoon OP? If it was Europe maybe you could whisk her off there for a long weekend and relive the magic ;)

haha another child will take you 18 years to pay off :)

id recommend something so random and out of your comfort zone that she would love

City break - Rome is a wonderful city tp visit. For €1500 you could get flights and decent hotel for 3 or 4 nights.

I'd recommend Cologne or Brussels if you are looking for a city break in Europe. Brussels is a lovely city and you can take a tour of the chocolate factory on the river side

maybe a trip to Barcelona? or a trip to see the northern lights in iceland....something completly different and meant to very rosemantic

Whatever it is, it should be a complete surprise. Surprises are the best!:)

Budapest is a lovely city, my favourite in Europe. It is cheap enough, so you might get a fab hotel for your budget. A cruise on the Danube - rosemantic! I second previous poster's idea of the Northern Lights. Something I have dreamt of!

...Iceland is not the best place to see them. I was there and the lights are white as opposed to the greeny colour you would have seen pics of. Also there is so much cloud there sightings are even more sporadic than they are in other places (it rains more in Iceland than it does in Ireland believe it or not!). The best place in the world to see Northern Lights is Tromso in Norway. It's expensive, but then so is Iceland.
