With the start of euro 2012 just around the corner, who do you think will win it. Its Holland for me, they were in the world cup final last time around and most of their top players had great seasons including Van Persie, Huntalaar and Robben.

Group A: Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
Group B: Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
Group C: Spain, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Croatia
Group D: Ukraine, Sweden, France, England

I can't call it between Netherlands and Germany to be honest, I'd be swaying towards the latter.

Germany, though given the group they're in, I wouldn't rule out an upset happening.

    We'll win it.

    Mon the boys in green!

Shure, apparently we can't be beaten.

Just like in 06, Italy will be underestimated and I can see them reaching the final/hopefully winning it.

Germany v France final, Germany win. Spain v Poland third-place playoff.

Yeah Poland... they're my dark horses.

    Germany .

If Spain can get Villa back to his best they have a big chance but i fear that mightn't happen . I know their other strikers aren't bad but i'm not sure they're Top Top quality .

    France, Germany or Spain.

Only 1 vote for Spain is just crazy, they will be there or there abouts again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭leggit

Germany or Netherlands, sticking my neck out for the Germans though.

Sure most of their team could have Champions league medals come Saturday evening?

Ill follow the crowd and say Germany as well.

Spain there or there abouts again.

Italy wont qualify out of the group again.

Ireland to get a solitary point. Against Spain.

England to fall in the group also.

Holland to fall at the group stages also with Portugal and Germany going through.

Germany. Spain won't make the last four, but Italy will by not conceding anything. I'd like Nederlands to win because their shirts are cool. Poland to make the semis

Spain won't make the last four,

While bitching to all and sundry about lesser teams having the temerity to tackle them and employ a defence against them.

Voted France. Germany look brilliant but I just think the group games will take a lot outta them come the knock outs- kinda like Holland 4 years ago. France have a nice looking group and are always tough to beat come the knock out stages. It's between France and Germany though I think, can't see Spain winning it. In fact I can see England shocking Spain in the quarters

France all day long for me. Have one of the best managers around, a sense of discipline and squad harmony that hasn't existed in virtually a decade.

They have as good a back 4 as most of the teams in the tournament, they have plenty of options in midfield with the likes of Ribery, Nasri, Ben Arfa. Up front Benzema is easily among the most in form strikers in world football, especially in terms of his overall play.

They have an easy group and are unbeaten in 18 games.

If that happens i'm looking forward to what the english papers will say.

    Germany for sure

Surprised people are going for Italy, i think they will struggle to get out of the group nevermind advance further. Very ordinary side now.

I have no idea, tbh. It'll probably be one of Spain, Germany, France and Holland but teams like Croatia, Italy Portugal or even England are always in with a shout at winning an international tournament with so few games in it.

Germany for me but I think France could surprise a few.

Netherlands to finish 2nd in their group to Germany, but beat them in the Final

Hard to tell until after the first week. By then you get a picture of which teams are up for it or not. Spain are the best team in the world right now, but having won the last World Cup and Euro Cup before that, they may not be hungry for it. Germany are a young team, I would make them favourites for now.

England are in a bit of a mess, Hodgson has picked a strange squad that will cause division. Why is Stuart Downing in the England squad and Ferdinand not in it?

Ireland will do well and may get out of the group. Who knows they might even do what Greece did a few years back:)

Germany with Neuer have a massive chance.

He's the best in the world imo.

Ireland will win. I've suffered through 43 Trap matches so far, it's about time the rest of Europe suffered through 6.

Well people were saying similar about them in 06 and 08. Donadoni made a meal of things in the last tournament but they still managed to make the QF and be knocked out by Spain on penos. Spain played the better football but that was somewhat helped by the absence of Pirlo and Gattuso. Team needed a change after that and Prandelli has done just that. Only five outfield players over the age of 30 in the provisional squad and a qualification record of 8-2-0 (only conceding two goals) isn't too bad. Yeah the opposition are weaker than what you'll see next month but still, no other team conceded fewer goals than that.

Italy are still a big side.

Ireland will really shake them up, when they win the euro cup. Ireland are the greatest football team.

Germany or Spain. I don't think the Copa del Rey will be that tiring for the Barca and Bilboa contingent that start.

Spain or Germany, an outside chance for the Dutch.

None of the other teams impress me as much.

I don't think the cup is the concern, I think it's the season Barcelona have just had tbh.

Germany slightly winning the poll, just!

    Spain 12 11.21%
    Republic of Ireland 19 17.76%

This place provides some comedy gold at times.

Agreed, it's shocking that people actually think Spain have a chance!

I'm financially invested in Germany. Have them doubled with Bayern on Saturday.

The France squad is a lot stronger than I would have thought, they should be pretty decent.

I think we might sneak a win against Italy. 1 win and a couple of draws against Spain & Croatia would reduce me to tears!

Agreed. :) I guess they might have a 'chance', but for arguments sake ...

Number of teams who have retained the European Championship : 0

Number of World Cup winning teams who have won their confederation tournament on both sides of the WC win : 0

Spain will be breaking all sorts of new ground for consistency if they win Euro 2012.
