when I turned 45 a few months ago I took off my wrist watch and have not put it back on.

I've started a collection of pocket watches.

I blame my Dad who gave me his grandfathers rolled Gold Waltham hunter. needs a repair, but it's a serious bit of heirloom.....

so I started buying russian pocket watches of ebay.

several 3602 movements..... these are really tough and come in a wide range of styles and brand names.

I also have a few others... chinese watches are for PENNIES!!!!

I'll post a few pics later, but if you can't wait, here are some......

I've got another of those red dial ones still in its hunter case, complete with box & papers ...but that rarely sees the light of day

Do you always wear a waist coat? There is a couple of interesting Russian pocket watches on TZ-UK.

It's been called the "watch pocket" ever since good old Levi Strauss first put it there :D

Love the Waltham M. Gorgeous watch. IMHO our Yank cousins were well ahead of the Swiss on the watchmaking front on average.

I've been tempted by the notion of a pocket watch I have to say. I do have a Russian one of uncertain parentage, but it's timekeeping is really bad, so I've used it for "watchmaking" practice over the years. Next time I get a few quid not earmarked for strong drink or my electricity bill I may well get one. :)

You don't need a waistcoat either. I've found they work OK with jeans or any other secure pocket.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    +1 on the jeans pocket.

for dressier moments then it's either a waistcoat with a single Albert chain, or trouser pocket, again with a chain to my belt.

(I think) I've a pocketwatch movement in a Russian wristwatch, which is as close as I'll get. Really can't see myself carrying off the pocket watch look, without investing in a monocle and cravate etc.

    monacle?

my kids were teasing me about that this week, as I have a crap left eye that I don't use anyway.......

    not the cravatte though......

real self tie bow tie though.......

I HAVE been known to do THAT!!!
