Personally I'd buy the second one if it's in good nick but remember there'll be no guarantee with it compared to the new ones.

edit: actually if you can get the receipt off the owner you can use that as your guarantee since it's only 6 months old

Has the warranty not been voided by seller putting in shit 200GB HDD to sell it on?

I'd go for new way before I'd go for second hand one that someone has taken apart(?), if you don't need the i5-->depending on what you want the machine for, I'd get the i3

If you're not in a hurry you should wait a few weeks for the new Intel Ivybridge i3 range to launch. (save a few quid more)

An entry level Ivy i3 (like this one) is near same as entry level sandy i5 (like the i5-2410 in one you are looking at), and has better integrated graphics than all the above.

It might void the manufacturers added cover but not your consumer rights if another part fails due to a defect. Yes if the hard drive fails then then you've no comeback. Best to take a look at it and see if it's been taken care of or knocked around. Still think personally it's the better option of the ones listed above. But waiting to look at newer options would be equally as good.

Tight budget, I just put up decent ones as close to sellers asking price in the comments (€390) as I could find.

    What's max budget OP?

Yeah, maybe tell us how you plan to use it. Destop publishing, video conversion, games, light browsing and word processing etc...

Ya i might be better to wait for the new chip's to come out plus from what ive heard computers bought from next month get a free upgrade to win 8 when it come's out. I dont relly need the laptop till next september as im finished college for the summer and my brother is going to the states in september so i could hold of and get him to get me one over there it's just ive sold my old laptop the other day and got 430 for it so was thinking of buying a new one with the cash. Ive got a netbook and desktop for the summer.

I use it for the likes of photoshop web design programing. Its nice to be able to play a game on it if i wanted to now saying that it would be the likes of command and conquer etc that i would mostaly play if i was on the laptop.
