Could be Tetra but you could have a wideband amplifier amplifying whatever it is they use whether tetra or not.

Get an amp that only amplifies the narrow frequency range that RTE use in Dublin. This lot should advise and ship the right one.

are you using an indoor aerial ?

if so an attic or outdoor aerial should help.

DB use Tait Trunked radios...so one of these frequencies is the suspect. :D

Wideband amplifiers cause lots of issues, the frequencies used by TV are narrowing...a lot ...nowadays. Just wait till 4G Mobile comes out. :p

    Band Operational Frequency Transmit Power+
    VHF. A4 66-88MHz 25W
    B1 136-174MHz 25W
    B1 136-174MHz 50W
    C0 174-225MHz 25W
    D1 216-266MHz 25W
    UHF G2 350-400MHz 40W
    H5 400-470MHz 25W
    H5 400-470MHz 40W
    H6 450-530MHz 25W
    H7 450-520MHz 40W
    700/800MHz K5

    Transmit

    762-776MHz

    792-825MHz

    850-870MHz

Indeed, the TV network is designed for outside aerials 10metres high.

If you are using an indoor aerial then the bus is probably just blocking the signal. Get a rooftop aerial and report back.

Do you work in telecoms or do you just like playing the smartass? I see you're a bit of a civil engineer too, or maybe just a know-all?

Could you do us a favour & delete that post?

Have to admit though that the far more likely cause is simply the bus blocking the signal, as already mentioned, maybe causing signal reflections too & talk of bus radios & amplifiers is unnecessary & confusing.

No delete-y. Some individuals just post here to show off & if the OP benefits it's just pure luck.

Do you know the difference between a bus and a lorry so???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24 Rotating Egg

What has that got to do with anything?

Lets try this again from first principles :)

    DO YOU KNOW
the difference between a BUS and a LORRY???

    er ... yes I do?!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 25,234 ✭✭✭✭Sponge Bob

Good, lets wait for the OP to repost so! :)

There probably isn't much HGV traffic in the OP's area (compared to buses anyway), not sure if truck drivers just use their mobiles these days or what ...

nahh only busses affect it , i look out every time the signal goes ,few lorries do pass though none have ever disrupted my tv im using the sorview tv in my room so evertime the channel goes guaranteed 10 seconds later the bus will be up my the hill and then into town the buss is long gone and my channels still on the blink joke .

If the inside aerial is powered then switching the power off may disable the amp but still provide a usable signal , have you tried that???? You are really close to 3 rock.

A coat hanger should nearly work where you are if you bend the tip of the hook straight, put it in the telly and point the triangular hanger body sideways on to 3 rock and I don't think you need powered amplification. :)

    If you pop Killinarden,Tallaght, into:

    http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-map/

Then you find a red area that Says Oct 2012, so you are on the verge of good coverage. I would say an Outside aerial is a must now, but if you wait until October the signal should improve a bit.

That is unless your TV has a virus...
