So i have flights booked for 2 to Berlin in June and now we cannot go.
Is there anything I can do with them?

Here's their list of fees for changing bookings:

The fee for a name change is €110 per passenger  so I guess you can't sell them.

Wasn't there meant to be a new airport opening in Berlin and the opening date has since changed? If they've had to change your arriving airport because of this then you may have grounds to cancel without penalty.

Yeah I was told by Lufthansa last week that I should be entitled to a refund if the new schedule didn't suit me. However, the email from ebookers didn't mention anything about a refund.

Could be tricky arguing the point as the times will likely be the same you're just going to a different part of the city, but I think it's definitely worth chancing. I'm hoping to use it to get a shorter connection in Heathrow.

Discussed further here, Lufthansa definitely seem to be doing refunds

You would be going to the same part of town. The old airport Ryanair serve is SXF. The new airport would have been BER. Both are actually in the same place. Same runways. They just built a new terminal and changed the airport's name.

Plus more than likely ryanair will use the same time slot for their flight

yep - no probelms with the flight. god dam it!!

ah well - I will just have to take a hit on this one..

what about my insurance; i wonder could would i be entitled to something back from it? The flight was about €200.

It would depend on why you cannot travel. Your insurance definitely will not cover "changed my mind" but it might cover "too ill to go" or even "became unemployed".

You can always claim back taxes by the way, though Ryanair's administrative fee for processing a tax refund usually eats up the entire refund anway :).

i don't have travel insurance yet - had planned to get it before the trip.
So unless I go an get it now and then tell vibs later - i will have to cut my losses.

But I can apply for the tax back?

    Anyone done that?

You cannot get insurance after the fact. That would be fraud.

they would never know i had already planned to ditch the flight before signing up with them..

but nevermind, i would not be able to do such a thing…

i might look into the tax thing..
