I see that there are/were plans for M50 to become a full circle - extension tunnel being built out by the strand from Port tunnel to the current M11 junction. Any info on this (yes i appreciate it aint happening soon)

Often read about it, but obviously details are thin on the ground.

What I can't understand is why they didn't factor this in with the Dublin Port tunnel.

Have two Port Tunnels, one from the north and one from the south and have a nice complicated junction at the Port. Would have created the loop they were looking for with access to centre of Dublin.

The plans as area will bring you out into the bay and back. No city centre access from the South without having to do a complete loop north.

The NRA still have some documentation available about it. There were a few options and the costings are based on 2007 prices, but we're in MN territory with the costs.

Who knows, maybe there is a use for the glass bottle site after all.

Wasn't one of the idea's to route it along Booterstown marsh then cross the n11 around the radisson/fosters avenue junction and then on up towards M50 Sandyford junction. Mixture of tunnel and above ground construction.
