I called over to poulo6.5 last night to do a bit of bunny bashing, and he told me to bring my .243 in case we saw a fox. So I went down and we gave a couple of hours busting rabbits, and as we were packing the rimfires back into the jeep poulo said "fox, quick get your 243". Poulo stopped him at about 90 yards out and I sent a 58gr superformance at him. Here's the result.

It wasn't the longest shot in the world, but you'd think it was something special if you had seen the victory dance I did in the field. We had a taste for fox after that so I shot 2 more. Here they are, both headshots (sort of).

Ya, I thought I might get away with giving him a couple of fillings, but on closer inspection I thought it best to completely remove his bottom jaw

    Great going lad.

You cant beat the .243 best calibre around imo. Covers anything you'll ever need to shoot in this country.

great shooting, nothing better than getting your 1st few kills!

Is it just me or has the .243 become a very common round for foxing now? there was alot of threads about the .204 going to take over the .223 but it seems that everyone rebarreling their .223 are stepping up to a .243?

    Thats because its versatile.
58gn stuff will deal with Fox as shown above, stick in 90-100gn stuff and drop Deer no problem.
Low recoil, quietish when moderated and readily available ammo.
    what more could ye want?:D

Have you thought about barrel length or profile yet?

It is indeed, I'm really falling in love with this caliber. I like the rifle more every time I fire it, the few foxes were just the icing on the cake

Great energy out of the .243. at 100ish yards i shot 13mm/half inch mild steel and made a clean hole through it about 12mm in diameter. That's power

it was a pleasure to have you down for the night shooting. plenty of bunnies shot and a few foxes to round out the night.

here is one of the foxes i shot i think we got 6 altogether

i think i deleted all the rest of the photos by accident, oops :D

anyway it was a great night. you should put up some of the video footage we shot.
    how did it turn out

The video turned out good, but I'm having trouble uploading them to YouTube. I need a way of making the files smaller.
