Thailand and Malaysia travel advice

I am looking for a little bit of travel advice please. I recently split with my girlfriend of six years so I am planning to head off to Thailand and Malaysia on the 6th June for 4-6 weeks island hopping to get my head straight. I have no flights booked yet. I am a teacher so I have the time free to do this. I figure that getting away would be better than sitting around in the rain feeling sorry for myself.

Plan is to land in Bangkok and fly directly to Karbi, spend a bit of time on Railay beach, Phi Phi, down to Koh Lanta, into Malaysia, Penang, Langkawi, over to the Perhentian islands, back into Thailand and up to Koh Phangan, fly from Samui to Trang to get to Koh Chang before a couple of nights in Bangkok before home.

I am really only going for the beaches, the beer, the relaxing and the food. My question is, is there anything I am missing out on. I have been to Karbi and Koh Phangan before and previously have done North Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Am I trying to fit too much in a short time or is there anywhere people would recommend I do/don't go to? I have never been to Koh Lanta, Koh Chang or the Perhentians and would be interested in getting advice on decent budget accommodation and places to look out for or to avoid.
