    No.

Is your logbook lost or you just bought a car but never received logbook?

    Lost.

ah, then form RF134 filled by you saying it's lost, go to garda for signature and send it to shannon together with a check of €12 I think it was.
    Lost Documents
Complete form RF134 declaring what documents were lost and have it witnessed at your garda station.
State whether you need a Replacement log book, vehicle licensing certificate or tax disc and enclose the appropriate fee - see below.

    The fees for replacements are:
    Tax Disc € 6.00
Log Book / Vehicle Licensing Certificate / Vehicle Registration Certificate €12.00
    Trailer Licence Card €6
Certificate of roadworthiness (heavy vehicle) € 7.00
Certificate of roadworthiness (light vehicle) € 3.00
We can only accept applications for replacement documents from the registered owner of the vehicle at the time of application.

    No.

    Just for future reference.

The above form has to be signed by the Gardai.

Brought to the tax office with 12 euro.

The logbook gets sent out to you in the next days post, so minimum wait is 2 days.

The old brown type log books are sent from your local tax office, newer certs are sent from Shannon

I applied for the old brown type log book last week in Cork city, It took 7 days

What would the procedure be for someone who has never received a log book?

I have the car 8 years but have never received it?

Is the car registered in your name? If so its the same as above

The car I got the replacement book for last week wasn't taxed since 96

If it's a reregistered import a VRC will be issued when it's taxed for the first time .
If your the owner of an Irish reg car you will need an affidavit signed by a comm. for oaths to apply for a VRC.
If you are the registered owner apply for a replacement VRC , use rf134.

    It is an Irish car.

I do my tax on line so the car is registered to me, log book not lost, just never received it.

    What year is the car?
You only *really* need it if it's the first ever time it goes through the NCT.

I've never ever been asked for the cert on any car for subsequent NCTs, just ID.

I assume you mean the VRC/logbook redrums?

    As Limerick man said

The logbook gets sent out to you in the next days post, so minimum wait is 2 days.

It possible you can get it there and then but very very unlikely. When at NCT you can tell them, if they ask, that it's lost. They should test the car anyway but might hold on to the cert until they see the VRC.
