NCT retest

My car failed the NCT yesterday but it only needs a visual retest. The guy told me to just drop in with the car within the next month. I noticed on the printout that he gave me that it says I should have arranged a mutually convenient date/time before leaving the centre. I was hoping to get it done today. Do I need to call…

My car failed the NCT yesterday but it only needs a visual retest. The guy told me to just drop in with the car within the next month. I noticed on the printout that he gave me that it says I should have arranged a mutually convenient date/time before leaving the centre. I was hoping to get it done today. Do I need to call them or can I just show up?

In my experience you can just show up, they'll come have a quick look and you'll be on your way with your new cert.

It may be worth calling your test centre to find out if there are hours during which they will not carry out a visual retest. My test centre for example excludes lunch time hours and Sundays but at any other time, you can drop in unannounced.

I dropped in at lunch time and the guy checked it for me straight away, by looking out the office window. Not very professional I thought, but I got my disc so I don't really care!
