Hoping someone here can tell me or point me in the right direction.

Looking to find out how long it takes to get to Leeson St on the 46A in rush hour morning traffic from Foxrock Church.(And also the return journey in the evening)
Looking at moving out there but need to know how long it takes.

If I were to hazard a guess, between 35 and 40 minutes.

    40 mins or so
used to get the 145 along there plus a bit further to Cabinteely - 35-45 mins usually

The rush hour service improves considerably starting at Foxrock Church, I would have said 30 minutes or less. Last time I got a bus at rush hour from Foxrock Church, they had a system whereby they kept a couple of empty 46A buses in reserve just down the hill in the QBC on the N11 and if the 46As were not coming fast enough because of congestion in Deansgrange, they would pull buses from the pool to maintain the frequency so there was a guaranteed 46A every 10 minutes.

That system, the QBC and the bypass of Stillorgan village since a few years ago shortened the journey to Leeson St. to I would have said under 30 minutes on a good day.

These days I do Foxrock Church to UCD and it's easily less than 20 minutes. With the QBC all the way to Leeson St. I'd have thought you'd do Foxrock Church to Leeson St. in about 30 minutes, especially now that you have the 145 doing the same route.

Holy cow....I'd never thought I'd see the day. The recession must be real serious.

There are people in Foxrock who use buses.

Jesus.....what on earth are we going to do to resolve this.

    I know!

Cabinteely to end of Leeson was 35 mins best on the 145 (apart from the first day of operation where it took about 20:D) It managed this regularly at all times of day when I was using it.

Faster than the Luas too. So if you allow about 4-5mins from Cabinteely to Foxrock then you have your 30, but 46a are always a bit slower than 145 since everyone always wants a 46a in preference for some reason

all depends on how long the drivers spend yapping to each other during their changeover in Donnybrook

Hmm. About 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) from Foxrock Church to the end of Leeson Street, so 40 minutes equals a 15-km/h (9.3 mph) average speed, 35 minutes bumps it up to 17 km/h (10.7 mph) and 20 minutes is a blistering 30 km/h (18.6 mph).

The 145 might often be full coming from Bray, Shankill and Cabinteely (places that the 46A does not serve), and the 46A has run the same route (for the most part) for many decades (wonder how the people of Oliver Plunkett Road and Abbey Road are adjusting to having no bus service, though), so there's generational familiarity at least on the N11.

The 46A route has always been chock-a-block at rush hour - even going back before we even had the boom in the early 90s.
