    Hi all,
I bought an item from a seller in France on the 26th April and still haven't received it. How long should I give it before opening a paypal dispute? Or do I do a paypal claim first... never had to do it before so Im a bit unfamiliar with procedures.

Still waiting on the seller to get back to me, I asked him for tracking number etc.

    Thanks in advance.

France would be just over a week. Open a dispute now and dont close it no matter what the seller says. Its up to the seller to make sure you receive your goods and if you paid for tracked delivery then he has to give that information to paypal.

Ok so i started a dispute, the seller has gave me a tracking number but its current state says its in a depot.

So its kinda confusing, does the above mean its the last place it was tracked to in France and its on its way or does it mean its sitting in a depot in France since 3/5/12.
I'll keep the dispute open until I have the items in my possession.
Any other advice or potential problems I should be aware of?
    Thanks again.

If its in the depot it could be being held for some reason?
Other than that maybe the address label came off or something, either way keep that dispute open, better still escalate it to a claim and the seller may act a bit faster.

I bought a small item from France recently and it arrived in less than a week. It was not the correct item so I contacted the seller and he said I could have a full refund including postage. I sent it back to him and I got refunded to paypal 8 days later. Hope this helps.

Have you tried searching that tracking number on the anpost site? (change the last two digits from FR to IE if FR shows nothing)

    Am i right in saying:
A dispute is - we work it out between ourselves.
A claim is - paypal decides.

And is there a hold on the sellers account when there is a dispute & claim or just when its escalated to a claim.

I'll keep it as a dispute for now as I've asked the seller to contact La Poste to see what the story is and if I dont get a proper answer I'll escalate it to a claim.

Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated.

Of course the day after I start a dispute the parcel arrives. I'll check later if there is any extra tracking numbers so I can find out where the delay was.

From what I can make out the seller waited a full week to post off the parcel and it took nearly 2 weeks to arrive.

Mods feel free to lock if you want to.
