anyone lookin at the facebook documentary on bbc2?
any views on the fact that if you like a business page they will show your association to that business on your friends pages??? thus using you to advertise the business/company/product without your permission???

Not watching the programme, but this happens with all things you "like" or comment on.

Really pisses me off - I get notifications of a friend's comment on something I have absolutely no knowledge of or interest in.

But the advertising angle you mention might go some way towards explaining it.....

you should really see it, the presenter put it to a guy in fb stating that they were using people in advertising a product/company without their concent, he couldnt answer!!
seriously though surely there is some sort of legal implications in this?
personally i dont think fb can go much furtherin its development

Meant to watch it, but thought it was on at 9pm!

I'm getting more and more pissed off with FB and their Big Brother approach - not enough to deactivate my account, mind you (even if I could, I've heard it's fiendishly difficult), but I'm very careful about what I post given that it's distributed so freely without my consent.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a repeat.

i dont see the problem, if i 'like' something, it is shown in the news feed, if i comment on something, it is shown, im sure there are settings to not allow this as well

think your missing the point there, there is possible exploitation, its one thing liking something its another thing being used to advertise it for nothing without your concent

I wouldn't touch Facebook shares. Zuckerberg is too volatile.

It's crazy when you use browser extensions like facebook purity and adless to get rid of all the rubbish how little is actually left on the page, on my 21" screen there are roughly 8 inchs of white space in total either side of actual content :D
