14-05-2012 7:53pm#1So to summarise.. bought an Outlander it's chewed up 2 turbos in essentially 6 weeks of me driving it. Getting a refund so i've got 14K to play with.
Have had a loaner for a few days a 4007 similar to the Outlander but a higher spec but fairly heavy on the juice.
Willing to consider anything!
Also doesnt have to be a diesel, the OH has a sensible company car

Sorry.. more frustration.. i'd spent a while looking for a car and then settled on an outlander!

I'd also looked at a new model 320I coupe with red leather interior
Jetta with DSG gearbox (i think thats what it was)
RX8

Got in, took it for a spin and really liked it tbh.
Just turned out to have a lust for turbos.

Mileage was decent say 20,000 mls but the OH now has a company car so I can get something a little less sensible as the mileage probably is going to be huge.

Honestly.. I'm leaving towards a coupe.. I seen a nice one for 12k in dublin BMW 320I (new shape) but the rest dont seem to be anywhere near that

Since my last couple of posts I've drove the following.
S40 petrol and diesel
V50 Diesel
S60 T petrol
similar jeep to above.
Insignia diesel
Mondeo diesel
RX8 (quite a nice drive)
Qashqai (OH's suggestion)
Mini
Passat
None felt particularly "exciting" when i sat in them for one reason or another.0 -

So lads.. just an update on this
Today I've taken 3 cars for test drives
a 318D Msport badged
320 D
Jetta DSG
I'm not too au fait with the stats on the BMW but the 318 had side skirts and M Sport branded steering wheel and gear knob.
Felt very nice to drive and it's in good condition with a full BMW service history.
320 D nice aswell, inside a little more worn than the 318 but an incomplete BMW service history and about 35,000 more KMs (both BMW's same year).
Always had a soft spot for Jettas but after driving the 2 BM's first.. the Jetta didnt feel as solid tbh and was a little dissapointed after taking it for a spin.

That is not a M Sport. It is a basic ES with leather seats and M Sport steering wheel.
Again, its a basic ES model 318d. Don't see any extras on it. Personally I would not bother with either. There is nothing special about them.
It's a Jetta, seems expensive, you'd pick up a Skoda Superb or Honda Accord for similar money.
