Tax Refunds while Unemployed / Worked in UK

Hi - hopefully someone can help clear up my issue....

I was made redundant last November and have since worked for the horrid Norbrook until about 6 weeks ago. My question is that since I just started a new position where do I stand regarding a tax refund? Would it be better to provide my PR50 from redundancy or UK P45 or both to my new emplyeer. I am aware that the PAYE system is cumulative so techically if I am out of work for two months, I will pay less tax for a month or two when you go back to work. So there is little point in claiming a tax refund but would it matter after I worked a short spell in the North.

Thanks in advance for any input

You would be better off applying to BOTH Revenue and Customs & Revenue in the UK for your refund.

WRT your P45. If it was issued in the UK, then it probably isn't worth handing it over to your new employer, unless you're re-employed in the UK. If the P45 was issued here, then either hand it over to your new employer, or call Revenue with your new employer's ref. no. and get them to issue you with a Tax Credit Cert.
