Connections on Back of SKY Dish

There are 4 connections on my sky dish. 2 are in use for the sky plus I currently use.

If I connect a co-ax cable to one of the spare connection points on the dish and run it to a TV will I get signal.

I have an old sky box from before I got my sky plus box.

If you connect a co-ax cable to a spare output on the LNB and to a satellite receiver at the TV you should get a signal provided the output doesn't have a fault.

You will only get the free channels and without a Sky subscription will not get RTE etc.

What connection is required for this. Is it just a standard 'F' and some sort of a rubber cover ?

You can use standard screw on F connectors. They should at least be covered with electrical tape, but ideally self amalgamating tape. The main idea is to ensure water cannot get in around the connection and into the cable.

Be very carefull drilling from inside to outside. Make 100% sure no water, gas electricity inside the wall.

You say that you can use the standard screw on F connectors, but what should you use ?

Ideally a professional would use waterproof F connectors but these require special tools to install, which are expensive.

they are not always effective.

Some of the newer dishes come with an LNB that has a rain cover included. They don't stop 100% of the water, but they are better than nothing. The cover is slid down over the first few cms of the cable.
