    Ya tree sparrows alright, they could be nesting near by. you should contact BWI, there doing a study on them.

    Definitely report them and get nest boxes up. They like to nest in loose colonies

    Thats interesting. Perhaps they are using one of the terraces I have on the side of the house. I know they are being used but I haven't spent any time watching yet.

    I hope you do have them in your boxes. A local RSPB reserve has dozens of boxes up with many probably no more than head height. A friend has sparrow boxes on telegraph poles along the lane to the house

    The terraces are at about 8 feet just under the coving/lip (bungalow) for protection.

    whats the story with these? are they rare? i assume they are different from normal sparrows? remember hearing years ago that sparrow numbers were declining. i take it that happened.
