We need to cut the cost of the annual hols next year as have a few other serious expenses that have to be taken care of so was considering Marbella, Why? Should be able to fly into Malaga at reasonable cost, nearish enough to airport so wont have to hire a car

But what's it like for a quiet safe family holiday but not too quiet, looking for nice beaches, walks in the evening & a few excursions to keep the kids & missus happy

Do not want Karaoke bars / high rise / English breakie all day type of place (no offence :)) tacky etc

Would Marbella fit the bill or somewhere else within 45mins of Malaga airport, have been to Estepona but want to try somewhere different

    Any opinions or ideas,

I dont know how many are in your family who will be travelling next year. But, I am certain you will be able to book a holiday without going through a travel agency i.e. book accommodation, flights, car-hire separately.

Do a little research on the internet, look up small ads or listen for word-of-mouth referrals and you will get a great holiday inclusive of carhire for around €1200.00 (for 2 adults and 2 children).

I recommend car rental (especially in Spain) because it is cheap and driving there is not difficult as motorways connect nearly all the cities and resorts. If you are thinking of spending money on transfers just remember car-rental can work out cheaper and you have the use of your car for getting around.

We are two adults & two kids, I think €1200 is optimistic for flights, accom & car hire as we are tied to July / Aug time, unless we got a great deal on flights.

Want to fly out of Shannon to avoid fuel, airport parking charges & possible overnight hotel stay in Dub, car hire in Spain with full insurance will be €600 for two weeks, that's €800 there alone. Downside is destination choice of of Shannon is limited, so looking for somewhere nice, in easy reach of Malaga

Apologies, I based my figures on one week's accommodation. For two weeks I reckon it can be done privately for under €1600.00. I mean a decent destination, centrally located accommodation 2 bedroom apartment, carhire through www.economycarhire.com,

    Hi there

We are going to Malaga this year.

If you are looking at flights, we booked our flights in jan and got it for just over€1k and that 2 adults and 2 kids with selective seating, I think that was 160 extra for all both ways, but keep an eye on aerlingus sales.

Car hire seems to be working out at 450ish for the fortnight.

Accommodation is then on top of that.

Plenty of things to do for the family around Marbella, water parks, safari Marbella old town etc.

    Hope this helps
