As the thread title says, I have a problem with my '02 318 2.0l petrol. The engine seems to jolt and shudder at idle after start up when its been left a couple of hours. Its been plugged into diagnostics but everything shows up ok. :confused:It usually drives fine but lately sometimes(not always) there is a lag or momentary loss of power through the 2nd & 3rd gear.

Anyone have an idea what may be the issue?

possibly the ICV (Idle Control-Valve) or O2 sensor maybe?

Did you have diagnostics done or just a scan for fault codes?

On those engines there are a couple of things which may not show up on diagnostics, broken or split vacuum pipes, blocked or broken breather/oil seperator pipes or the seperartor unit itself, even the oil cap not being properly secured caused erratic idle on those.

The problem with the breather pipes and vacuum pipes is that most are hidden under the inlet manifold and hard to access.
