I'm 15, in second year, summer exams coming up in 2 weeks and I know eff-all.

I try to study, do my homework most of the time, but it's maths and French that are my worst. I got 10% in my class French test and around 40% in my maths class test.

I don't know what to do, I do try and study, but I still fail a huge amount of tests!

Really getting worried about the summer exams. They matter ALOT about third year and the junior cert etc

    Any help?

No,you're not stupid,I failed geography and got a D in German and maths in second year exams(all H.L).In the mocks this year I got an A in both geog and maths and a B in German, shows what some work can actually do.Don't doubt yourself.
How do you try and study ? reading the book is useless,it works for some, but I wouldn't recommend it.You need to be writing, whether it be doing a question or writing out notes. You should try talk to your teachers about how you find the subject hard, they'll more than likely be willing to help.
On the other hand homework is homework,do it,simple as.It's there for a reason.

40% in higher level maths? That's not bad at all!

I know it's easy for me to say it but there is no point in comparing yourself to others in your class. If you try your ABSOLUTE BEST then you should be happy with whatever grade you get.

It's pure simple, study. If you study for your JC, I promise you'll do great. Just learn your courses inside out and know your exam papers and you'll be sorted. Don't worry too much about your Summer Exams, they're corrected by teachers so it's not always the best indication of how well you're really doing.

Yup, the fellow above me is right. If your average mark in maths is 35%, keep working upwards 45%, then eventually to 55% and so on..
    You'll be sound, honestly!(:

I can second that. Got mostly C's and D's in my teacher-corrected mocks, and in the actual Junior Cert I got no less than a B. I didn't pick up the study considerably or anything, so I think you do benefit from a more objective exam. If you make a conscious effort with your homework, you should do well.

No Problem! I'm a fellow second year. We've plenty of time to get our acts together.
