Finishing Jobbridge

    Hi guys,

I'm finishing up my Jobbridge internship soon and I don't have any job lined up for when I finish. Does anyone know what the process is for signing back on JSA?

Will my payment continues as normal without the extra 50 euro but through the post office instead of the bank? Or will I have to go through the whole process of signing on and being means tested again? I hope not as it's all very stressful and clearly my means haven't changed as I'm still unemployed.

Has anyone here got experience of signing back on after Jobbridge and how does it work? Thanks a million.

The SW office will know your internship ending date but no harm to go to the SW office on the first day after it finishes and check in them. If your circumstances haven't changed there should be an automatic return to your Jobseekers payment, again through the PO and with signing on every month as usual. As the Jobbridge internship extra €50 was paid two weeks in arrears, be sure to check with them that you will receive those two €50 top ups after your finishing date.

You will need to reactivate your Jobseekers claim, as it will have been suspended for the duration of the Jobbridge. They don't know that your means haven't changed, so they will have to make sure that you are still eligible by processing your claim again, but it should be fast-tracked as it is only reactivating a claim, rather than a completely new one.

Go in to your local office in plenty of time to ensure as quick a turnaround as possible. If there is any delay, go to your Community Welfare Officer and apply for Supplementary Welfare Allowance to keep you going while you wait.

Are you sure you get two €50 top ups when you finish?
    I didn't!

Perhaps you got them when your payment kicked in after two weeks? You could check your bank statement.

Your Jobseeker's claim is not closed when you go on the internship - you are still being paid on this claim with the top up. So as Balagan advised, the day after your internship you should attend your local office to sign on and advise you are still available for work.
If you do not attend, your claim could be suspended.
