Ipad 1 Error 14

Hey guys, Have an Ipad 1 thats errored out with an error 14 when i tried to update the OS to 5.1 and is now stuck in ''cant fix it or restore it mode''. I brought it to an Apple store here in the uk and they said they can only exchange it for the exact same one for £200! Anybody know how to fix it cheaper??? Any help…

Hey guys,
