I understand that there has being a mojor increase of items being placed on the rail line north of Athy station since very recently, I belave there has being a number of insidents involving trains as a result. Does the area have a history of it.

It's Athy, it's a surprise that this is only commonplace recently.

Both Carlow and Athy have a history but recently in Athy it has increased. Objects are being placed just before the points at the station on Dublin side, when trains are approching they are doing 30-40mph. Over the last 6 weeks there has being 6 such insidents when I have being onboard. There has being pallents, rocks, a shopping trolly, sticks and other large boards. As the train is going slow they tend to just go over them and don't stop and no damage is caused. One time the driver had to shut down 2 engines as items got stuck and caused problems.

Today was the most recent, between 16.30-17.30 there was items placed on the line and 16.35 from Heuston wnet over them.

Staff in the station need to look at the line from the platform as its that close to the station and a CCTV camera needs to be put up off the end of the platform if they want it stopped.

The items being placed on the line are at the side of the tracks (from peoples houses) so if they were removed it may stop it.

Should be classified as attempted murder and carry a commensurate sentence. For parents of children doing it, they should face the penalty for their rugrats' behaviour.
