Android Marketplace Help.

    Hello,

I received an Android tablet as a gift for Christmas. I don't know too much about it because it was imported from China. It runs Android v2.2 and it's kernel is 2.6.32 (if that matters).

Anyway, I have some kind of "App Market" on my device, but I'm assuming it's not the official Android Marketplace as it does not even have a Twitter app, for example. I appreciate that the specs of my device will not be good enough to run Temple Run, etc. but there should be no problem with basic applications.

I'd appreciate if anyone who is knowledgeable on the subject could offer me some advice.

The tablet doesn't comply with the requirements for the Android market, to be compatible with the Android market Android tablets must meet certain criteria, most chinese "knock off" tablets won't meet this criteria.

Try other app hosting sites like getJar.

What tablet is it? There's a reasonable chance that there's a ROM(Community made revision of android) that will give you better performance and Play Store access.
