Are we able to use the bus lanes on the N11 instead of the cycle path as some of the paths are a joke.

It's much safer to use the bus lanes on the N11, the cycle path is horrible at places. I think you are still legally bind to use the lanes. If Garda stops you for cycling on the bus lanes I believe they would have no issues when you explain to them how freaking horrible these cycle paths are.

That said, I am not sure what happens in case you have an accident (touch wood) when using the bus lanes and who will be on the right.

Yes you are unless the cycle lane have this sign in front of them

Your only legally obliged to use those cycle lanes, and most of the cycle lanes on the N11 are not of this variety.

Most of them are a joke. Coming out of donnybrook they are a waste of space, weaving in and out of bus stops, giving way to pedestrians and are covered in glass.

Stick in the bus lane and try ignore the lovely taxi drivers that think your wrong.

It's on most of the lanes. Ive often used the bus lanes and guards are not too bothered as one was behind me

    32. (1) A bus lane shall be indicated by means of traffic sign number RUS 028 or traffic sign number RUS 029 used in association with traffic sign number RRM 024, and a contra flow bus lane shall be indicated by means of traffic sign number RUS 030 used in association with traffic sign number RRM 024.

    (2) A person shall not enter a bus lane with a vehicle other than an omnibus or a pedal cycle during the period of operation of the bus lane which shall be indicated on an information plate.

I would imagine your ok. Though I would imagine your technically meant to use a cycle track if one is provided. Though there is no case law on the matter so its a bit of a grey area.

I suppose it's just down to courtsy also u don want to be holding up a bus in the morning when the other lanes are clogged, I would only use them on my way south bound
