Samsung Galaxy Y

I hope someone might be able to help with this. My son has a Samsung Galaxy Y which he only has a few weeks. A soft drink was spilled near the phone and the phone got slightly wet ..only partially. We took it apart to make sure it was completely dry, we've found that the volume on the phone itself is working fine, ringtone etc but apps he has stored including a music app on the sd card on the phone have no volume at all. We took the sd card out and placed the dismantled phone near a dehumidifier, still no change. Is it possible that the sd card has been damaged or the sd card slot has been damaged?
