If it is a + box then there are two cables between the dish and the receiver. To extend the cables means getting a Cable with an "F" type connector on both ends and two "barrell" type joiners.

In reality it may not be possible, once extended to run the cables from one romo to another room. Sky normally run the cables on the outside of the house, then drill a hole from inside to out and feed the cable through.

Something like this (comes with connectors)

    and this

If it is practical to run the cables from old room to new room without drilling through walls (where you may hit a water/gas/electric cable) then it may be possible.

Also if your box is connected to a phone line you may need a telephone extension lead. If you have a "Sky eye" that runs other TV's from the main box then you will need more cables. Check if anything is connected to the "RF2" connection on the back of your box.

You do not need to get a Sky branded installer out. Any installer will do. Make sure to get a few quotes and try get someone from an approved body, and a guarantee. If your dish is over 5 years old it might be worth your while replacing it at the same time.

You can buy HD boxes online and ask sky to change your card over from the old box to the new box. If you had one cable between the dish and the box, you need two cables for HD. Some very old dishes only have a connection for one cable, so you may need to change the dish or the thing on the end of the dish (the Sky quad LNB)

2 cables are NOT required for HD Receivers. ONLY HDR or HD+receivers require the second cable to operate fully. ( limited watch/recoding is possible with a single cable)
