    Hi folks,

Heading to Dorset to meet some relatives and friends in a few weeks and bringing the kids (aged 3 and 4).

Plan to arrive in Fishguard on StenaLine arrival time 12.30pm. How long does it take to get to Lulworth in Dorset? AA says 5 hours! Is it actually that long? I used to live in Cardiff and recall it only took 2 hours to Fishguard....

Will break it up around Chepstow. ANy tips for things to do to let the kids burn energy!

    Tks

    Alan

The viamichelin website suggests that the quickest route takes about 4 1/2 hours - it is almost 400 km and nearly half of that is not on motorways.

When my kids were that age we took them to France and had even longer drives on occasion. CDs of favourite stories was the best way that we found. I got so fed up listening to Black Beauty and Watership Down!

Nice destination, it is a long drive but worth it. While you are there, I would recommend the tank museum, monkey world and a trip to Swanage.

A portable dvd player is a great investment for those sorts of journeys. Personally I like to just hit it with as few stops as possible.
