I3 or I5 Laptop?

Hi,

My current laptop is six years old so it is time to upgrade. We mainly use the laptop for viewing youtube, browsing and shopping on the web and also using the MS Office products. Is there any benefit to getting a laptop with an I5 processor or would a I3 machine be sufficient based on what we currently use the laptop for? I really don't want to spend any more than 500 Euro but most I5 machines are over this budget. Can people recommend the best laptop they think would suit our needs in this price range?

If you want another six year laptop, get the i5. Higher-end hardware keeps up with future system requirements far longer than the baseline stuff.

This is in argos for 395 .

2.5 processor
4 gig of ram .

My advice is replace the hd with an ssd one .
128 gig crucial m4 ssd .
It an extra 130 euro . It,s expensive but it worth getting .
The computer will run alot better .

dude if you are going for an i3 don't get a 1st generation model.. get at least a sandy bridge or ivy bridge.. the benefit of getting ivy is the use less power i.e longer battery life...and Intel HD 4000 graphics is about 50% better than HD 3000 on the Sandybridge. CPU performance is marginally better so i'd say get an i3 ivybridge or if you can afford that get a Sandybridge i3

so get something with i3 2xxx or i3 3xxx.

I know Argos offer a good insurance policy and you always have the manufacturers 12 month warranty.
Mu current laptop is 4-5 years old and I would plan to keep this one for another 4-5 years.

(I also have a few hundred One4All vouchers which Argos accept....)

That Toshiba is medium range gaming notebook.

If the gaming you are after then probably getting much better GPU would be an answer.

But if I only need medium range power then I am fine?
(Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 will run fine on a Core i5 with GT540M)

Budget is limiting me to the P750 range at most.
I did look at the P850/P855 models and drool a bit........

I have a budget and I want to stick with Toshiba. I was planning on getting it in Peats (vouchers) I thought that the current offers in Argos allow me to pick up a P750 now rather than waiting another 2-3 months. (To put cash aside) However I am a bit unsure about getting a laptop from Argos, it just doesn't feel right!
