    Hi guys

Just wondering which would be the better to go with .
the Z77 or the X79 , will be used mainly for gaming and 3D rendering  , Cad etc, I want it to be upgradable and as future proof as possible , which do ye recommend and even better if ye could tell me what's the real world difference between the 2

    Thanks

X79 is more expensive, can take a 6 core CPU and has more RAM capacity.
Z77 is cheaper, has lower power draw from new ivy bridge CPU's.

If you have the money go for X79.

    Thanks for the response
Within reason I'm not too bothered on the price , it would be paired with an ivy bridge i7 , anyone else have any advice ?

    You can't use ivy on x79 motherboards. It's socket 2011 specifically for SB-e (3820,3930k,3960x)

So would I be better off with ivy + Z77 or sandy-E with X69 ????

The 3770K is actually faster than the 3820 :-)
