I feel really awful, I was in a mad rush yesterday and I realised I left the immersion on for a whole day! I've never done that before.. how much is this going to cost?? I dont pay the bills where I live so I really feel absolutely terrible now thinking I could have wasted a **** load of money :(:(:(

With good insulation it will be well under a tenner.

To explain, even though you left it 'switched on', it doesn't mean that it was consuming power all day. There is a thermostat built in to the immersion, and when it reaches temperature it automatically switches off. So the power used is made up of two components, the power to get it up to the set temp. and the power to keep it there (accounting for losses due to lack of insulaton etc.). So if your cyclinder was reasonably well insulated, and ther was no one using hot water in your absence, then it will only cost you a few euros (guestimate).

So treat yourself to a good night out out the rest of the 150 euros you thought you were down !!!!!.

I leave my immersion on 24/7 and my bill is averaging at about E80 every two months
