    Hi all,
My wife is trying to sell her wedding dress but doesn't really know were to start.
I know of the sites that will host/sell it for you, but she only wants 150 for it and that dont leave much after commission.....
Anybody got any ideas, apart from gumtree or ads.

    cheers

Think most of the wedding forum sites e.g. weddingsonline have 'for sale' boards?

Already have it listed on adverts.ie and gumtree. getting quite frustrated though, as its listed as 'no offers' ,but yet some people still feel the need to chance their arm and private message me stupid offers

To be fair "no offers" is about the stupidest thing you can put on a for sale ad.

If you have a price you consider fair in mind, just set the asking price to €50 above that and see how close people come to it.

If people are PM'ing you offers on adverts.ie btw, it's against the charter of the site so you should be reporting them.

Thanks sleepy, i get wot your sayin about listing a higher price.

As for reporting, thats not my bag, so im not even gonna comment on that one. The Boards masses already know that some administrators have a slight ''God Complex'':)

You can buy a brand new custom made dress online for €150 or less even. It'll be very difficult to get 150 for a second hand dress.

Set a timescale for yourself for selling it and take the best offer you get.

    defintely this!!

Ive been using adverts since the day it opened and find theres some people who dont know how the principles of second hand goods.

Lets say its a pair of jeans "bought for 100 sell for 50 no offers below or I'll jsut hold on to them". I can understand this. not worth it to sell below that. A wedding dress is different. Absolutely no reason to hold on to it. So say you want 150 and think its worth that, ask for 200 and say no silly offers. If someone comes in with 100, refuse politely, theyll up to 125, youll get close to your selling price.

this is generally the way it works.

Then theres the people who want what they got for it. "Bought for 1000, sell for 900 cos its in good condition and I think its worth that". Its worth what someone will pay for it.

I went to buy something a few months ago, the item new had been 3k but price had come down to 2k. Seller was looking for 2k for his one Secondhand as he'd bought it for 3k. Even after I sent him the link to it new for 2k he was not for bending. No perspective.
