    Hi All,

looking for little advice/help from the all-knowing boardsies... have done a search, but wanted more up-to-date info...

Starting a course in the IPA on Landsdowne Road on Saturdays & Sundays.

I'll be coming in the M7, can anyone tell me the easiest way to get there on weekends?
Obviously i'm thinking about driving, but what is the on-street parking like around there at weekends? I presume it's Disc parking (if available at all). Any idea how much for 8-9 hours at weekends?

If i went the Luas/Dart method would that be easier?
Or more to the point would it be reliable enough to get me there for 9 on Sat & Sun?
Have looked on website and quite a few Dart don't stop at Landsdowne on Sat/Sun.

From the websites the Luas doesn't seem to give exact times, just "every 15 mins" etc.
If i were at Red Cow for say, 8am, i should be ok, right?!
(i'm thinking half hour to Connolly max, train at 8.44 on Sat & 8.53 on Sun)

I suppose what i'm really asking is that would it be easier to drive & on-street park (taking expense and handiness into account)...

or to Luas/Dart my way bearing in mind that it's weekend schedule and more waiting-around time would have to be allowed to ensure i get there on time?

Apologies for major rambling and many, many thanks to All in advance :D:D:D

The IPA has free parking, just get there 20-30 mins before the course starts and you should get a space in their car park.
I used to do a course there, coming from M7 would head straight in After the red cow and turn right down the canal. Traffic was never an issue. It will be very quiet that time of the morning. I could travel from home in Limerick and get to the door of the IPA in 2 hours.

All southbound Darts stop at Lansdowne Road, it's services on the Drogheda/Dundalk route that don't.

Not knowing where you come in from but seeing as you say the M 7, a transfer onto and off a bus/Luas at Heuston is going to have to be done. Car may be best for you. There is plenty of parking around there so you will be fine.

Parking is likely to be cost-free at weekends, but be careful of weekends with events at the Aviva Stadium.

As mentioned the IPA has free parking but it is limiited. You have to pay and display on Saturdays but not on Sundays on the roads around the IPA.

    Hi All,

    Many Thanks for replies.

@ cee_jay Didn't realise there was parking at IPA, thought it might be for lecturers/staff only, good to know, thank you.

@ Victor Also, encouraging to know of on-street parking, only ever been in that area on match days so never really took any notice, thank you. Will deffo use public transport on event days.

@ Losty Didn't actually think of heading from South and hence didn't see that northbound trains all stop at Landsdowne. Many Thanks for that, very handy to know. Prob use car park at Blackrock or similar.

@ TomRed Again, many thanks for your help, would there be plenty of on-street parking? Or would i have to be lucky? Any idea of rough cost for 9 hours?

Guys, thanks very much for all the help, very much appreciated :D

On street pay parking normally has a maximum duration - the machines won't issue tickets for more than (say) 3 hours at a time.

bollix, was afraid of something like that, didn't really want to be coming back to feed a meter, was hoping i could go for the whole hog in one.

Anyway, once again many thanks to yourself and everybody else who replied.

    Cheers

You can't come back to feed the meter as even with a second ticket you are still at risk of clamping. Cars have to be moved from the street after the max period.

Get to the IPA 30 mins before college starts you should get a space. There is loads of street parking on Landsdowne rd and Shelbourne rd. Obvoisly on match days parking is a nightmare.

If you are staying up in Dublin for the weekend, consider booking the B&B across the road from the IPA. You can then use their car park for the whole of Saturday and Sunday free of charge.

Solution to this is to park on the Sandymount side of the stadium; much of it is Mon-Fri only paid :)
