I'm signed up & have used them for a couple of deals now. They are just focussed on golf & do a deal or 2 a week, both playing & teaching.

As far as I know they are looking to expand pretty quickly and have plans for some prizes once they get over 100,000 members?

I registered with them recently, have yet to buy one of the deals but they seem good value for money...

One thing I would say is for their own sake if this is to be a viable business, I would imagine they need to get more buy-in from clubs, pros etc nationwide. They offer an option when signing up to specify your location but they have really only had Dublin / Leinster locations (with one or 2 Cork / Kerry) since I signed up a few weeks ago for Limerick. They need to be generating more volume I reckon - it's a good idea but if they can't generate enough local offers, it won't work. I think they may also be suffering from the fact that a lot of the 'usual suspects' (Groupon, LivingSocial etc) also offer golf-related deals occasionally.

I'm registered with them and have used them a few times. Got two green fees for Knightsbrook for 38 euro I think. My brother got two aswell and we made a 4 ball. When I went there green fees were 20 euro :-) So the deal saved me 2 euros !!!

I just bought another one for Knightsbrook (I'm not from Trim but it seems like the closest place they do deals for). 47 euros (I think) for a 2 ball and a buggy. Which effectively means they are just giving me the buggy for 7 euros.

So while they look good with flash advertising saying "58% off etc", the deal probably isnt as sweet as you think. However, it's still a reduction which is always good.

The teaching offers look good though.

The deals seem to be on the "rack rates" which are always higher and rarely charged to customers.

But a buggy for 7 euro is ok!

I'm signed up to it but yet to see a green fee deal with any big saving. The good thing about goupon etc is that they offer significant savings, but with these guys the deals aren't good enough.

Groupon are not giving the savings, it's the clubs/pro's who buy into the deals that do. So the fact that this is a new site, the clubs do not want to be giving too big a discount I presume!?

Signed up myself but have yet to buy, only seen about 2 deals I would have bought but both were in the wrong location.

Carlow is a lovely course, however €30 is probably not a huge saving. One thing about these sites is only buy if you are going to use in the follow 2-3 weeks as there is a reason many places are offering great deals which is usually because they are stuck for cash which means that if u wait longer than this period after purchasing the place could be bust before u get a chance to use ur voucher.

Yes Carlow Golf Club lads! Any feedback? Is €30 a good price?

I haven't played there Tom so can't comment but it is fairly highly rated here http://www.irishgolfdesk.com/news-files/2011/11/14/golf-digest-irelands-top-100-ranking-2012.html so I would imagine it's a good course.

My memory was it was a bit of a members club, if you know what I mean, but a nice track alright. Presume they have got off their high horse in the current economic environment;)

Played it last year in a Society outing , great track but unfortunately the greens were in a poor condition. Pretty sure we paid €30 on the day which was a Saturday.

    Worth a visit ..........

I didn't say groupon were giving the savings??? They offer significant savings to the people who sign up.

All the 'offer' sites give good deals from day one or else people don't sign up. Just look at the Carlow deal, €30, you can play there in an open for €20. These sites only work when they offer serious discounts to get people to impulse buy

Exactly. My brother bought a fourball for €55 but you can get early bird rates up to 8.30 for €12.50 each (€50 for a fourball) on teetimes.ie and from 8.30 till 11am €15 each so €60 for a fourball. Not really a saving. I'll bet if you rang any club doing a groupon deal you would get it cheaper than the groupon price because the split is normally 35% for Groupon and 65% to the club.

Deal for Baltinglass today €29 for 2-ball or €55 for a 4-ball. Thats to play the course in the morning and again in the afternoon (don't think it includes lunch). Seems reasonably good value for 36 holes.

Have never played Baltinglass so not sure what the course is like?

It's a good course,I have played it a few times, some testing holes especially the 1st. €55 is pretty good for a four ball anyway especially if you can get in the 36 holes!
