    I have a 2005 Audi A3 2.0 tdi manual 6 speed. It just passed the NCT but the lad doing it advised me of this ;

    "Left front wheel cv boot is loose "

    He didn't say it was broken , just " loose "

    Does this mean that this cv boot just simply needs to be tightened or does it need to be fully replaced ?

    Sorry for my lack of knowledge

    Probably one of the metal clips is misplaced or loose. Post a pic and someone will diagnose it. It's not a big problem in any case.

    More likely the clip which holds it at the drive shaft end is broken or has lost its tension.

    A new clip should sort it.

    Thanks for replies

    So probably not a big job then........... Just a new clip needed to secure the cv boot
