    Hi all

was looking at this as a gaming laptop:

    http://www.pwnpcs.co.uk/?q=laptops/sager-np-9150-clevo-p150em-extreme-performance-custom-gaming-laptop

Have about 1500e ish to spend.

am thinking of upgrading the GPU to the 675m and the processor a notch up whilst keeping the standard RAM
Is this gpaphics card pretty future proof?

I want to keep it a 16" screen max but battery life and weight dont matter

If anyone else has any suggestions/recomendations to make, I'd love to hear them

    thanks

Whats the cost of that device. It's certainly nice.

    costs £1100 for

Future Intel HM77 Chipset, support for 3rd Generation Intel Core Processor and up to 32GB DDR3 system memory
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M with 1.5GB GDDR5 Memory / GeForce GTX 675M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 Memory capable

I think these two make it worth that alone.

It comes with the 670 as stock and the 675 is 150 pounds extra whilst the AMD is only 115 extra. Seems to me like it should be the other way around?

Would getting the AMD 7970M gpu not be better than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M

    Yes it would, cheaper to.

Bit of a price war starting with Nividia and AMD and the new cards, more expensive isin't always better.

I think it might be because the Nvidia card will revert to the on board intel hd graphics when not in gaming mode.Whereas the AMD 7970M IS always on and you can not save energy going to the on board intel hd graphics. But I have heard some problems with Optimus switching for some games.

The 7900M series also supports automatic graphics switching between the integrated GPU and discrete GPU. Called Enduro, the technology supersedes AMD's Dynamic Switchable Graphics and is similar to Nvidia's Optimus. Furthermore, the 7970M can directly support up to 6 connected monitors using Eyefinity Technology if Enduro is disabled.

    here

I am so behind. It must be because it is just cheaper.

Anandtech is not convinced with Enduro (for Intel platforms)
The second is the real concern: until we can get AMD driver updates separate from Intel driver updates, it’s our opinion that Enduro won’t be particularly useful on Intel gaming platforms

On a related note has anyone got much experience of pwnpcs.co.uk or pcspecialist? What are they like in terms of delivery to Ireland?

PC Specialist is fine, don't know anyone that has used pwnpc but they have a rep over on the Notebookreview site Forum that you can chat with and beg for free shipping or some other freebie-->he's offering (post 69) so no harm in asking.:D

They've ALL the clevo resellers listed in one place now.
