    Hi Guys

I've just moved out of what has to be one of the worst living arrangement ever. I moved in with this girl after answering an ad on daft, she owned her apartment and she seemed like a lovely normal person.

I have no idea how I lasted 5 months there. She would turn off the water from the mains while I was in the shower and bang on the door saying I was in too long. She would turn off the heat and tell me to put my coat on or go to bed if I was cold, I'd turn on the hot water for a shower and she would turn it off saying it was hot enough, I'd end up having a cold shower. I was only allowed to use the washing machine once a week at the weekends and was given a list of foods I was allowed in the fridge and allowed to cook. I had a friend over one evening and she kicked them out shouting this isn't a halfway house. She would ignore me and slam doors and would hide the close horse so I had nowhere to dry my clothes. I wasn't allowed to have my phone charging for long and it had to be put on vibrate after 10 pm and blow drying my hair was a big no no, she would empty out the kettle while I was trying to make a coffee screaming that there was too much water in it. She would shout at me and just be a complete bitch.

She advertised her room again as a warm, friendly, laid back , easy going apartment. She kept my deposit when I moved. Is it just me or are there more like her on daft.

Sounds like you got scammed out of your deposit. I'd be demanding that back if I were you.

Lift flooring board, drop trousers, lay some quality cable, put back floor board.

    Put on heating.

    Leave.

You should have told her to fcuk off, you were paying rent and entitled to use the shower, charge the phone etc. Amazed you put up with it for 5 months.

On a serious note, you should be entitled to your deposit back. I recommend asking in the accomodation forum.

send her a small claims court summons for the deposit - only costs 18euro. Sounds like a proper mental bit*h!

It reminds me of the time I let out a room in my apartment.

This girls moved in and spend up to half an hour in the shower and the bills were going through the roof. She put the heat up full blast and sat around in her undies. She put the washing machine on every day just for her. Being Korean she kept uncooked puppies in the fridge and always filled the kettle just to make a single cuppa. She kept me up half the night with her mobile going off and I came home one night to find the house full of suspicious looking drunken strangers.

And she had the nerve to bitch about me!!

I hope you left her a few farewell presents hidden about the place before ya went ? Turd in the cistern, dead rat under the mattress, pour eggs into every gap you could find etc etc.

I'm a girl so I don't know if she was rideable, she did have this f**k ugly boyfriend she met on line, he would call over and she wouldn't let him in, he would call in for her and she would close the door in his face and say she would be out in a minute, they are together 2 years

You were living with the owner, she felt you were invading her space and reacted badly, so burn her apartment.

    Get your deposit back.

I also wonder if the homeowner is actually a members of boards. Would be fun.

Duggys right, his tried to kill him. Yours sounds a bit eccentric although there is a thin line between eccentric and buzzshít mental with murderous tendencies.

Put it down to experience and count your losses, following up on your deposit will only get you the stress of having to deal with that loon again. However if money is tight go the route of the small claims court as previous poster said.

I remember having a roomate who never cleaned up the bathroom after shaving and washing his teeth, mank. He also played The Travelling Wilburys "Learning to Fly" constantly at all hours of the day and night. I often encouraged him that as he listened to the song so much maybe he had learned to fly and he should try it from the roof of the house. That bait was never taken unfortunatley.

I reported her to the tax office on Friday with proof of all the rent I've paid her. I know for a fact she hasn't declared that she has a paying tenant

This is just as bitchy thing to do.

A guy would have called the "landlord" and come to an agreement.

Is one not allowed to rent out a room in one's house tax-free so long as the revenue therefrom is under a certain amount?

Yup, as long as they're getting under ten grand a year in rental income, they don't pay tax on it.

My rent was €650 a month and she was letting two parking spaces belonging to the property so she's under investigation
