Repairing a garden patio?

    Hello folks

At home, we have a lovely slate patio that was built a number of years ago. It was done very well but unfortunately an eejit like myself came along and damaged it by (using the garden spade to shorten the grass verge so it doesn't grown over path and patio) taking some earth from just underneath the edge of the patio. This has caused a weakness and now it looks like more slabs are becoming loose and weeds are starting to come through.

    Thanks

Sounds like the edge of your patio just meets soil and your lawn, rather than a definite edge to support the edge of the patio, like a line of bricks.

After that supportive edge should be your lawn.

You could mark out the edge of your patio and take up the slabs along the edges. Lay a course of bricks around the edge of your patio making sure its level, which will support the patio slabs at the edge of the patio.

Your patio will have stability and you will have a definite edge for grass edging. :)

you could bed take up the slabs and bed it in a dry compacted mix of sand and cement
