Entitled to see house survey carried out by bank?

    Dear all,

When the bank carries out a survey on a house for mortgage approval is the would-be purchaser entitled to read that survey? And if so, how does one obtain a copy?

    Thanks!

The bank doesn't do the survey.

The buyer engages someone acceptable to the bank to do a survey. the buyer chooses the person who does the survey and pays them. They are fully entitled to a copy - they are the client after all.

Oh. I thought that both the purchaser and the bank had surveys carried out...

Maybe you mean the valuation? The bank requests that you get a valuation done by someone on there approved list. A copy of the valuation is then sent to you and the bank.
But if you really mean a survey well then that is just done by you so you know what condition the house is in before you sign the contracts etc.

The bank and the valuer may also want to know the building isn't a lemon / money pit.
