Hi, my car failed its NCT yesterday, and there are no mechanics near me open today, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone would have a rough estimate as to how much this would cost to fix:

    02 Opel Corsa:

    Insecure battery mounting
Frayed/cut CV boot (need a new one)
    Rubber missing from clutch pedal

    Thanks!

Only thing that should cost more than a few bob is the new CV boot and install, you can get pedal rubber in a shop/ebay and install yourself.
Not sure what the insecure battery mounting refers to, is it rusted?

Nope, not rusted, just a bit loose according to the tester. Thanks, I'll have a look online for a pedal rubber!

I would advise you to avoid driving the car with a damaged cv boot. I had the same problem and I ended up having to replace the cv joint as well. Mechanic said it was caused by lack of lubricant.

Battery mounting - may just be loose, even a universal replacement would only be about €10-€15

CV boot - Approx €60 for a new good quality boot supply and fit.

Pedal rubber - only a few Euro new from Opel and a couple on mins to fit.

Brilliant, not too bad at all then! Thanks

I'd say the CV boot supply and install would be more around the €80 mark.
