Howya lads, I've been lightening my hurl for a while now with a sander, it has lightned up a bit but not enough. Should I just keep chipping away at it? But, I'm thinking of just getting a spokeshave, would that be the right thing to do? If so can anyone point me in the right direction? What type do I need to get?
    Thanks in advance

I'm sure others may have different opinions, but my advise would be not to lighten your hurl.

You'll get much more distance, accuracy and evenness of ball striking with a more weighted hurl. Not to mention putting your opposing number hoping when in the thick of it!

Work on increasing you arm strength with particular emphasis on wrist flexibility, strength and endurance.

IIRC all the great sharp shooters favoured a heavier hurl.

I've had a few Tipp and Waterford players hurleys in my hand and the majority of them are a ton weight.

The lighter the hurley the easier it breaks really.

This Is great advice I think. I did work on arm strength for a few weeks in January/February alright, but it was my first year being introduced to weights and core as I'm still underage, so it was mainly just an introduction. No doubt the work load on this side of the game will be increased further in the coming months. Thanks for the advice!
