Public golf courses in Galway

    Hey folks,
Going to be in Galway on a stag over the June bank holiday weekend, and a couple of us were thinking of trying to get a few holes in on the Monday. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a decent public course that's not too expensive and would have availability for us to play? (I.e. not hosting a competition, as I know my home course does on bank holidays).

    Many thanks in advance.

Open days are popular around the Galway area on bank holiday weekends and offer good value relative to paying green fees, is playing in one not an option since everyone wouldn't have a GUI handicap?
Alternatively I'd suggest trying Galway Bay and Bearna, neither appear to have an open weekend and are both good courses within 15km of the city centre. Galway Bay is the better of the two but greens fees may be that bit more expensive.

Galway bay was packed over the weekend. you would prob need to book it.
