Hey guys, doing the leaving cert this year and looking at courses and jobs prospects! Big into my health and fitness and diet etc.. and thinking of studying sports science at UL next year. After that I would love to set up my own personal trainer business? Is it a very competitive area and difficult to get started? and also whats the salary like? Thanks in advance:)

If you set up your own business, you won't be getting a salary.

Im sure its the same as everything else. If you make a name for your self, you will get more recomendations and more clients as a result. The key is to keep ahead of the curve, constantly looking at new ways to improve your skill set and offer something new to your clients. A sports science degree, a good personal trainer does not make. An Ability to cater for the needs of the client and to tailor appropriate individual programs, whilst achieving great results will stand you in good steed as well as constant upskilling.
