Depends. What sort of budget are you lookin at? There are a number of classes you could enter but the costs involved differ greatly.

You need to get to a track, look at the classes and decide what class is for you. I think 1500-2000 might get you a Max, but you also need to sit down and budget for the races you plan doing. Tyres, fuel, transport, testing & entry fees, chains etc etc.

1500 - 2000 would get you a decent rotax but they are expensive to run. Your talking engine rebuilds after less than 30 hrs of running along with fuel, 2 stroke oil, tyres entries etc. If your on that budget I would say buy a superpro kart. They run with the rotax class in the tullyallen karting club which has the cheapest entries and much bigger grids than motorsport Irelands events. The first round of the mi karting championship had 13 rotax out where as the last tullyallen championship round had 30 rotax, so many they had split them I to 3 groups!

The superpro has a 620 cc Honda v twin 4 stroke engine. Keep it under 5300 rpm and keep her topped up with oil and your looking at 500+ hours between rebuilds. I know there are a few for sale at the moment. There's one in the tullyallen championship for sale for 1200 euro (it was second in the race I seen) and 2 more for sale that havnt been raced before for 1500. Problem with them is that they have small grid sizes but since you get mixed in with the rotax because of that there is always good racing.

    Where are u based?
