    Hi Lads,
Just looking for a bit of info about going to work as an aircraft mechanic down in Auz? I'm 21 and watching a few good mates head down there and I'm starting to get itchy feet to head over aswell!!
I have my Cat A licence, would this mean anything over there??
Does anybody know what the demand is like for mechs at the moment, do they have contractors or is it mainly permies?
I'm currently working as a conny so I'm in no really hurry, but I suppose I'd just like to start getting a bit of info together!!

    Thanks!

I know a couple have guys who have looked at going down that way for jobs in the aviation sector. It seems that putting down you are a pilot gets you a negative mark in your visa application, they seem to want people for the financial admin end in Qantas too.
I know a former SR Technics worker who tried to go down and was told they had no real opening(he looked at Qantas, Virgin Oz and Tiger Air to list a few). He landed a big money job in the middle east soon after however as a result of enquiring down there the jammy f**ker.
It seems aviation workers is something they are not altogether short of down there!

But I'd do your own digging and ask around down there with the various airlines!
