Have you tried activities like yoga, tai chi, meditation groups??? It may be tweaking your lifestyle that will make all the difference.

If you believe your symptoms are a result of the menopause, have you tried herbal supplements or changes to your diet???

I believe introducing soy products into the diet is beneficial as it is a source of phytoestrogens. Simply switching from dairy to soya milk might be a good place to start. An aunt of mine found this helped a lot when she went through the menopause. There is a lot to work on where diet is involved so maybe doing some research would serve you well.

Herbal supplements that you might like to look up are black cohosh and red clover but it would be best to go to your local health food store or visit a naturopath/homeopath to get the best advice.

I can't speak from personal experience I'm afraid. Hope that helps but definitely tai chi/yoga would be great for the anxiety side of things.

Hi mogsmoo, first of all I can empathise with you on the menopause front.I am 48 and started the menopause at 39.The absolute worst things were the hot flushes. One every 15 minutes:eek:Friggin awful!
After a couple of years when they died down I got the anxiety/panic attacks, they would come out of no where.I could just be sitting watching telly and one would happen.I went the natural route, didn't do any hrt because I didn't want to and managed to get through the other side!
For my anxiety/ panic attacks I took passiflora tincture for a while. You can get it from the health food shop.About 8 drops in a glass of water each day.It helped me anyway so it may do the same for you:)
I found with me that when one symptom disappeared another one arrived, but in the last couple of years all I get is a bit anxious now and again but I just do a bit of deep breathing.

Hang on in there mogsmoo, there IS light at the end of the tunnell!

    Hi Op

Whilst I am a few years away from the menopause I have had panic attacks in the past and still get bouts of anxiety now. I am not sure how if you are aware of them coming on, ie: tightening in the chest, shortness of breath, uneasiness in the belly but if you do get those before the full onslaught of the panic attack what I do is press my toes into the ground, be aware of the rising anxiety, take a deep breathe and try to relax into it, I find this works rather than trying to shove it away.

    mogsmoo, you are welcome;)
Hope you get something that works for you.Go into the healthshop and they should recommend something for you. They should pass eventually, just try and bear with it.I only get them occasionally and mildly now TG!
Let us know how you get on!

I have read in a number of places i.e. menopause websites that starflower oil tabs are highly recommended. I started to get a couple of the early symptoms i.e. migraines with aura etc and had put on a lot of weight. So I took to the gym, it lifted the depression/moods and really gave me a boost and I have also lost nearly five stone. Probably won't work for everyone but exercise does boost your immune system and also gets the endorphines firing. If you are finding it intolerable, I do suggest going to your GP as your first port of call just to get bloods done etc and to make sure nothing else is going on i.e thyroid etc. Best of luck
