considering 75% of every budget goes into health care every year,
id like to know how many health care workers there are in this country,
and how many sick people there is a day,
not included all the waiting lists
how much has been spent in the healthcare sector in the last 20 years,

i worked as a technician in a couple of the hse offices around the country
and in my opinion there isnt enough work for all of them, none of them seemed to do be doing anything, the building is secured so the public can not enter and had a catering staff of 7 to feed them, the building was like a sauna due to the heating turned up to the last, driving into the
hse car park is like going to a car sales dealer, why are they getting huge wages
for pushing paper around i am waiting 5 years for a simple operation
health care is not free anyway 80 euro for a trip to the a&e

if health care was cut it wouldn't make a huge difference,
most people can self diagnose and treat themselves.

The only thing about Dr. Google is that cancer is always on the flippin' list of things that might be wrong with you.

Based on my experience of working for a period as a HSE employee I can say a few things .
The most important thing to bear in mind about the HSE is that the patient comes last and staff needs come first , working practices , recruitment and promotion processes , pay , sickness arrangements , etc are all geared toward the benefit of staff , patients and taxpayers come a poor second in this pecking order. Grasp this point and you will be well on the road to understanding our hopeless system.
I knew many HSE managers on very substantial slaries who did not even have a Leaving Certificate much less a 3rd level qualification yet they were supposedly in control of 7 figure budgets.

The abuse of sickness in the HSE is legendary - on my first day it was made clear to me that my colleagues expected me to take my full entitlement of uncertified sick leave and thus create overtime opportunities for them - small wonder the HSE spends 1/3 of payroll on ' premium ' payments.

The HSE is a bottomless pit that throwing money into will not improve things one iota , management are terrified of the unions , politicians interfere at all levels and nobody is accountable for anything.

People blame Consultants a lot and indeed they must shoulder some blame but the so-called ' Angels ' that are Nurses are as a collective group as big a barrier to reform as the Consultants.

I don't see things changing - no political will combined with awful unions and weak management will keep the HSE in crisis indefinitely.

Best paid Consultants in the world says it all- and that includes US. (Higher levels of litigation also).
When they realize tax payers hospitals are for tax payers healthcare and not to prioritize their private patients over the same, the sooner the corrupt healthcare system will prosper.
It is an incredibly expensive, inefficient system. More than this, it is grossly unjust.

OP not of sufficient quality to stay open.

As per charter, "mate told me" type threads are not suitable for this forum
