If I had 1000 shares to sell and say they are worth €2,000.00

Can someone tell me how to calculate all the costs involved (incl CGT and/or stamp duty), using Sharewatch whos fees are as follows? -
    Online Share Trading

Ireland, UK, US, Canada, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland. From €14.95 (min) or 0.3%
Is it as simple as 2,000 x 0.3% = €6.00 so as they have a minimum it will be €14.95 euro to sell??? and what's CGT and/or Stamp Duty? How to calculate that.

    Any other fees?

    Thanks in advance

Don't use sharewatch but (not 100% sure) depending on your other income etc... I think you would be almost completely exempt form CGT.

I cant remember but I think personal exemption is around 1270 plus your 14.50 costs. CGT is 30% so i think you would pay €220.65

    And is there stamp duty?

    Why not use sharewatch?

Is there better/cheaper for one off trades?

    Thanks

    Thanks bah

    So 2,000.00 - 1270.00 - 14.50 = 715.50 x 30% = 214.65

    2,000.00 - 214.65 - 1785.35 Net to me ????

Where does the 1% Stamp Duty come into play - is it 1% of the 2k or the 214.65 ???

    Cheers

    Hi Vicwatson,

I dont use sharewatch but the €14.50 would be the minimum commission charge so (€2000 x .3% = €6) as the .3% is lower than €14.50, €14.50 would be the charge.

Stamp duty is only charged on purchasing so you would not have to pay that.

CGT is self assessment and as bah101 said it is 30% on gains however you have an allowance of €1270, so if you make a gain over €1270 you pay 30% tax.

    Cheers
